Kolapore Heritage Hikes - Geology Hike

  • 16 Sep 2023
  • 9:30 AM

Registration is closed

Learn about Kolapore's geology as you hike with Beth Gilhespy, author of the new book "Walking Through Time: Exploring Niagara Escarpment Geology in the Beaver Valley Bruce Trail Section".  Beth has a well-deserved reputation as an eloquent and enthusiastic interpreter of the complex geology of the Niagara Escarpment. Beth is a trained geologist, and was the CEO of the Bruce Trail Conservancy for almost 15 years. She is currently the Executive Director of the Toronto Zoo Wildlife Conservancy.

Participants will meet no later than 9:30 at the Kolapore parking lot on Grey Road 2, and will car pool from there to the start of the hike. The hike will be about 9 km, and participants should bring a lunch and lots of water. The hike will be mainly on the Bruce Trail, but will include portions of Kolapore's Northwest Passage. The route is moderately strenuous.

We expect that this hike will be popular. Participation is capped at 25, and pre-registration is essential.  You will be asked to sign a waiver at the parking lot when we meet.

The Heritage Hiking Series is free to all participants. Donations - either cash in the donation box at the parking lot or an e-transfer to info@kolaporetrails.org - are welcome.

If you have any questions about the Geology Hike please email info@kolaporetrails.org
