The warm weather and sun on Sunday melted the snow surface, and it has now refrozen.  Tracks will be icy.  Skiing is not recommended until we get the new snow that is predicted for mid-week.  Kolapore Trail Guide

This morning I did a long and enjoyable ski on many of the trails on the east side of the Kolapore system.  However, the snow is thin - 17 cm (7") at the snow gauge, which means that there is about 10 cm under your skis.  There are rocks showing, and caution is required on some of the rockier hills.  On Sunday the temperature is predicted to get above freezing relatively early.  That's when many skier have problems with skis clumping, so I recommend putting glider on your skis.  Kolapore Trail Guide

Kolapore received 10+ cm of snow overnight.  This means that skiing is again possible, although caution will be required because we lost a lot of our base.  Rocks won't be far below the surface in some locations.  The County Forest parking lot just off Grey Road 2 has been well plowed this morning.  Kolapore Trail Guide

After the very warm temperatures yesterday, and the subsequent cold temps, the trails are hard and icy.   There are also quite a few rocks sticking through the crust.  I strongly recommend against any skiing.  There is a good chance of a significant amount of snow overnight - I will post again Friday morning.  Kolapore Trail Guide

With the warm temperatures yesterday, followed by colder temperatures overnight, the tracks will be icy in the morning but will soften as it warms.  This pattern will likely continue for a day or two.  Because of the relatively thin snow base, rocks will start to reappear.  Sadly, a few Kolapore veterans are calling this the "worst ski season ever".  We are still hoping for a late season return of cold weather and snow.  Kolapore Trail Guide

Yesterday and overnight the south end of Kolapore received about 8 cm of new snow.  This is on top of the crust that was left after the rain on Thursday.  I skied in the County Forest and vicinity this morning, and conditions were better than expected.  Almost all rocks were covered, and there was enough snow to set decent tracks.  HOWEVER, some skiers were icing/clumping this morning, and that is likely to get worse as temperatures warm.  Be sure to prepare your skis and bring a scraper.  Kolapore Trail Guide

I did a short ski this (Monday) morning in the County Forest, and the tracks are crusty.  The temperature got up to around +3 yesterday, and the sun was out.  With the colder temperatures the snow has refrozen.  I would rate conditions as fair to poor.  Kolapore Trail Guide  

Overnight Kolapore received about 5 cm of new snow.  As I post this at noon, the sun is shining, but the wind is blowing hard.  Today and tomorrow morning might offer OK skiing for hardy skiers.  Kolapore members: the forecast suggests we should have OK temperatures at the time of our moonlight ski on Saturday night, although there could still be some wind.  Kolapore Trail Guide

Over the past two days Kolapore has had several light snow flurries, which have improved trail conditions.  There are still a few rocks that your ski may touch, and the odd wet spot, but overall the conditions are good.  Today was a perfect blue wax day.  And for Kolapore members - remember that there is a moonlight ski and fire on Saturday night.  Kolapore Trail Guide
