Thurs Feb 10: Variable ski conditions - need new snow

Temperatures on Wednesday got to +3 or 4 at Kolapore.  I was expecting that conditions would be very poor, but when I did a short ski in the County Forest this morning I rated conditions as fair to good.  The 2 cm of snow we received this morning helped.  I didn't ski any serious hills - I think the hills that have had a lot of snow plowing may be challenging until we get more snow.   Kolapore Trail Guide

    I skied NW Passage yesterday in a counterclockwise direction to 6th sideroad. The Metcalfe Rock parking lot had not been ploughed in a while but the parking lot was still usable. I felt more comfortable in my AWD vehicle. The part of the trail that is shared with the Chuck Grant side trail had a lot of traffic from hikers. I met four hikers with at least 8 dogs. The last steeper descent before 6th Sideroad had two rocky bare spots where rivulets cross the trail. Otherwise, the snow coverage was excellent.
