Come and learn about the ferns, lichens, bushes, wildflowers, birds, and animals that comprise the fragile and complex web of the understory.

    Hike Leader is Brian Popelier.

Brian works with the Bruce Trail Conservancy as a senior ecologist. He is the BTC Land Stewardship Coordinator where he performs ecological inventories - which include breeding bird surveys, frog call surveys and Species at Risk surveys - on over 14,000 acres of BTC managed land. His experience encompasses authoring and leading property management plans, ecological restoration plans and invasive species management for BTC properties as well as supporting BTC clubs in stewardship, encroachment and ecological issues.

In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Kolapore Wilderness Trails, we are bringing orienteering back to the Kolapore Uplands!

Kolapore was the venue for the 1983 Ontario Orienteering Championships, the 1985 World Masters Games and the 1998 Ontario Orienteering Championships.

This is a 50th Anniversary Partner Event with our friends at Dontgetlost South Georgian Bay - a new program for adults and kids who enjoy playing outside in the South Georgian Bay area. Dontgetlost has hosted events in the Blue Mountains and Collingwood areas for years and starting in 2023, they are planning a regular schedule of local events. They hope to introduce navigation sports to community members of all ages in Collingwood, The Blue Mountains, Wasaga Beach and around the South Georgian Bay area.

See the website for further details on the Kolapore Heritage Navigation Adventure.
